Turnpike crashes

State police at the Pocono barracks reported the following crashes that occurred on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike:

• Rodney A. Rider, 45, of Lehighton, was cited after a one-vehicle crash at 2:07 p.m. July 10 at mile marker 67.5 in Washington Township, police said. He was uninjured in the incident.

Police said he was driving a 2024 Jeep Compass northbound when it traveled on to the right side of the road, went across a grassy area, down an embankment and struck the back of a guide rail.

• Michael J. Blasi, 48, of Mountain Top, was cited for careless driving after a one-vehicle crash at 2:56 p.m. July 10 at mile marker 89.2 in Kidder Township.

He and three passengers, identified as Colleen P. Murphy-Blasi, 56, and two 15-year-old boys, all also from Mountain Top, were uninjured in the incident, according to police.

Police said Blasi was driving a 2022 Chevrolet Suburban northbound when he lost control of the vehicle after it traveled through the rain/water-covered highway.

The vehicle hit the left side concrete barrier before spinning and striking the barrier again. It had disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
