Father asks for field name change
Washington Township Supervisors heard a request to rename the Slatedale field last week.
Chairman Shawn Wanamaker read the letter that the board requested from resident Jeremy Frable: “On Aug. 19, 2021, I lost my son Chase Frable suddenly one day after his 19th birthday. Chase had played baseball at Slatedale Park since he was 5 yeard old, until he was 16.”
He wrote that Chase always loved going to the park, whether it was playing ball, helping coach other kids or fishing in Trout Creek behind the park.
Frable said he would pay for signs to rename the field and make a yearly donation to the township toward maintenance of the park.
“I also would like to do future fundraisers in memory of Chase and proceeds would go to the Slatedale Fire Company,” he wrote.
He said he often goes to the park to see his grandson play ball.
