State police at Lehighton
State police at the Lehighton barracks reported the following incidents:
• A 62-year-old Kunkletown woman is the victim of a theft by deception/wire fraud incident at 9:59 a.m. July 5.
She reported to police at their barracks that she was scammed via Facebook by a person pretending to be a real estate agent.
• A 53-year-old woman from Northampton is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after police made a traffic stop at 1:39 a.m. July 4.
She was stopped in a 2021 Subaru Ascent for a Motor Vehicle Code violation on Bank Street n Bowmanstown.
• A 64-year-old Lehighton man is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after police made a traffic stop at 9:36 p.m. July 3.
He was stopped in a 1993 Ford Ranger for a Motor Vehicle Code violation on West Bowmans Road, East Penn Township.
• A 39-year-old woman is the victim of a theft by deception/identity theft incident police were called to at 3 p.m. July 2 at Shadblue Lane, Penn Forest Township.
She told police someone took out a fraudulent student loan in December 2023 using her name. She said that she was not notified of the loan until recently.
Police said the woman did not lose any money because of the incident.
• Soraya Lopes, 27, of Summit Hill, was cited for retail theft (shoplifting) after police were called to the Country Junction store, Interchange Road, Towamensing Township, at 6:10 p.m. June 30.
Police said she attempted to steal $463.13 in merchandise from the store.
• Police said a male was cited for retail theft (shoplifting) after they were called to the Walmart store, Blakeslee Boulevard Drive East, Mahoning Township, at 12:19 p.m. June 28.
The store’s loss prevention personnel caught the male trying to steal a soft drink valued at $1.56 and a black vehicle sunshade valued at $12.23, police said. The male’s name and age were not provided by police.
• A 67-year-old Slatington woman was cited for retail theft (shoplifting) after police were called to the Country Junction store, Interchange Road, Towamensing Township, at 6:43 p.m. June 27.
Police said she left the store riding a scooter and was stopped on Forest Inn Road and found to have stolen $620.39 worth on food, decorations and assorted items.
• A 14-year-old Easton boy is facing assault/bodily injury charges after police were called to the Ashfield BHA Academy, West Lizard Creek Road, East Penn Township, at 8:40 a.m. May 28.
Police said the teen assaulted two teachers, a 35-year-old woman from Palmerton and a 31-year-old woman from McAdoo.
• A 34-year-old Philadelphia man is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance after police made a traffic stop at 4:56 p.m. July 5.
He was stopped in a 2018 Hyundai Elantra for Title 75 violations on Interchange Road, Franklin Township.
• Two men, ages 54 and 69, both from Saylorsburg, were cited for harassment by physical contact after police responded to a disturbance at 9:51 p.m. July 7 on Bishop Colony Road, Ross Township.
Police said it was determined that the neighbors were involved in a “pushing match.”
The 69-year-old man and a 23-year-old man, also from Saylorsburg, are also listed on the incident report as victims.
