Ice cream social
An ice cream social, hosted by the Mahoning Township Lions Club, will be held from 4:30-7:30 p.m. today at the Normal Square Pavilion. It includes hamburger and chicken barbecue, hot dogs, sundaes, waffles, ice cream and drinks.
St. Matthew’s
St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church — North Weissport, 222 Church St., Lehighton, holds worship at 9 a.m. Sundays. Worship is also offered on Facebook (St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church). All are welcome.
Summer Bible Study is held Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m., continuing on July 21. All are welcome.
VBS: Vacation Bible School — Surf Shack will be held July 13-16 from 6 to 8 p.m. each evening. All children age 3 through sixth grade are invited for stories, music, crafts, games and snacks. All children are asked to bring a white T-shirt or tank top for tie-dye fun. Registration may be done the first night of VBS.

Sunday worship with Holy Communion at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, begins at 9:30 a.m. Included during this time is presentation of scholarships to students enrolled in college and seminary. Licensed Lay Minister Kathy Long presides.

Church initiatives:
The Food Pantry is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays (and third Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting. Residents who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive supplemental food. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pickup. Pantry volunteers will assist pedestrians/those not in vehicles.
Trinity Thrift Store hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays; and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays and Saturdays. Cash only sales. Clothing donations will be accepted during store hours. There is a five bag limit. Household goods are not being accepted at this time. Use door 2 to bring clothing inside.

• Vacation Bible School “Road Trip: On the Go with God” for students ages 3 to grade 6, July 27-31, 6-8 p.m. Free registration by contacting the church office or sign up in narthex after worship. Teen and adult volunteers are needed.

Sunday worship at Dinkey Memorial Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1742 Dinkey Road, Lehighton, is held at 9 a.m. Sunday school begins again in September.

Community Cupboard: Dinkey Memorial has a food cupboard available to those in need who are members of Dinkey Memorial and St. John’s and to residents of East Penn Township.
