Kidder chief clarifies fireworks request

Kidder Township Fire Chief Joseph Lennon addressed the supervisors board last week about fireworks, trying to clarify misinformation.

An application to do fireworks at Lake Harmony was denied for multiple safety issues.

The barge was not certified or registered and it is unlighted and unsecure.

Lennon expressed concern about the direction of the launch of the fireworks.

The organizers chose to move to Split Rock Resort, he said.

Lennon went on to recognize and thank firefighters as they have been through a lot with all of this, including personal attacks.

In other fire company news, Lake Harmony Volunteer Fire Company will be getting an Aqua Eye Pro sonar device, which is a handheld sonar underwater rescue device for search and rescue.

Sixty percent of the funding will come from the Capitol Fund and 40% from a separate fund for an approximate cost of $17,995.
