Local roundup: Results from June 26

Palmerton rolled to a win over Saylorsburg in Connie Mack play on Friday.

Also, Weatherly advanced in the District 18 9-10 softball tournament with a victory over West End.

Palmerton-Saylorsburg

Jayden Rivera collected three hits and three RBIs to lead Palmerton to a 13-2 victory over Saylorsburg in Senior Connie Mack action.

Palmerton took control early, scoring three runs in the first before erupting for seven more in the second. Rivera singled home a run in the big inning, Chase Wilson added a two-run single, Colton Becker and Cade Serfass each drew RBI walks, and Dillon Uhnak contributed a sacrifice fly.

Rivera finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored, while Wilson added two hits and two RBIs. Becker also drove in two runs. Palmerton showed patience at the plate, drawing 10 walks, with Conner Walterick and Liam McDonough each earning two. Walterick also stole two bases.

Becker earned the win, allowing two runs on two hits over five innings. He struck out eight and walked three.

Connor Santangelo drove in both runs for Saylorsburg, while he and Jackson Walters each collected a hit.

A late surge lifted Forks Township to a 6-3 win over Northern Lehigh in Senior Connie Mack action.

Northern Lehigh jumped in front with two runs in the first inning as Pablo Rivera singled home a run and Ryder Gall drew a bases-loaded walk.

Forks Township answered with three runs in the second before Gall’s RBI single tied the game at 3-3 in the third. The hosts pulled ahead for good with two runs in the fifth and added an insurance run in the sixth.

Rivera, Paul Porobenski and Jayden Rehrig each collected two hits for Northern Lehigh. Rivera scored twice and drove in a run, while Gall added an RBI. Adrian Hassold stole two bases as Northern Lehigh finished with six steals.

Northern Vy.-Nazareth

Northern Valley outhit Nazareth 8-4, but the Chargers dropped an 8-4 decision in Senior Connie Mack play.

The visitors scored first on an error in the opening inning before Nazareth answered with two runs in the second. Calvin Kulp’s RBI single in the fourth tied the game at 2-2, but Nazareth responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning to regain the lead before pulling away with four runs in the sixth.

Kulp finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs to pace the Chargers, while Connor Hausman added two hits. Mason Malosh struck out five over five innings in the loss.

Jake Morehouse collected two hits and drove in two runs for Nazareth, which drew eight walks and stole eight bases.

Anthracite-West End

West End combined on a one-hit shutout to blank Anthracite 2-0 in Little League all-star action.

West End scored both of its runs in the first inning, capitalizing on an Anthracite error before Nick M doubled down the left-field line to drive in the game’s other run.

Liam McCormick turned in a strong effort for Anthracite, allowing four hits and two unearned runs over five innings while striking out eight.

Ayden Diaz recorded Anthracite’s lone hit. The visitors drew six walks but were unable to break through offensively.

West End’s Trey B earned the win, allowing one hit over four scoreless innings while striking out eight. Anthony G pitched the final two innings, striking out three to complete the combined shutout.

District 18 9-10 Softball

Weatherly-West End

Reya Gregory tossed a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts to lead Weatherly to an 18-1 victory over West End in 8-10 Little League softball action.

The Lady Wreckers erupted for 12 runs in the first inning, taking advantage of patient hitting and aggressive baserunning. Hailey O’Donnell, Grace Gregory, Reya Gregory, Raigan Cannon and Jessa Donadi all drove in runs during the outburst.

Weatherly added a run in the second before scoring five more in the fourth to close out the win.

Reya Gregory allowed one unearned run over four innings while walking six. O’Donnell collected two hits, while Donadi and Grace Gregory each drove in two runs. Natalee Ritter added an RBI single in the fourth.

Olivia B struck out six for West End. Dakota A stole two bases, while Sophia (Gracie) G and Olivia B each drew two walks.

Weatherly advances to play Carbon on Saturday.
