CCTI special ed facilitator updates board

Christine Trovato, facilitator of special education at the Carbon Career & Technical Institute, recently shared her thoughts with the Joint Operating Committee at the close of the 2025-26 school year.

“I would like to take a moment to recognize and thank our outstanding faculty and staff,” Trovato said. “Every day, they demonstrate their commitment to helping students learn, grow and achieve their goals.”

Trovato also thanked parents and expressed appreciation for their support, cooperation and communication.

“Without that,” she said, it would definitely be more difficult.”

Trovato also provided details from the two in-service days at CCTI.

“The first was a presentation by guest speaker Ben Hartranft, who shared his personal experiences living with an autism spectrum diagnosis. He shared the challenges he encountered and the accomplishments he achieved with the support of his family, educators and community. Of particular importance was the connections and lasting impact that educators had on his success.”

Plans are to have another presentation by Hartranft for the students when school resumes.

Additionally, staff reflected on the progress of students who exceeded expectations; those who required intensive support; and those whose growth reinforced the importance of their work as educators. Staff discussed the support they provided students throughout the year that contributed to student success.

“The importance of building relationships with students as a factor in their engagement and academic success was emphasized,” Trovato said.

“During the summer months, some activities I will be working on include assisting and supporting Mr. (William) Mack in his transition as CCTI’s new leader; maintaining office files; developing case management assignments for special education staff; preparing special education documents and files; collaborating with Mr. Mack and Mr. (David) Reinbold to prepare for in-service days; renewing Section 504 Service Plans with families; reviewing and updating CCTI’s special education and homeless web pages; scheduling co-taught and support classes; facilitating transition meetings as new applications are received; and participating in professional development sessions.”
