June 20, 2012 — Lehighton’s Jacen Nalesnik is named the Times News Area Baseball Player of the Year after a standout season. The junior catcher finished the year leading the Indians, coached by Brian Polaha, in nine offensive categories, including batting average (.403), runs scored (35), hits (31), RBIs (25), triples (3), home runs (5), stolen bases (16), on-base percentage (.521) and slugging percentage (.727). Nalesnik, ranked No. 1 in his class academically, also threw out 10 of 20 baserunners trying to steal.
