A woman who fractured a nurse’s wrist after being taken to St. Luke’s Miners Campus in Coaldale will serve a total of four years on probation.
Kaylee F. Kern, 28, formerly of Tamaqua and now living in Coal Township, was charged by Tamaqua Police Officer Michael T. Sniscak III with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and simple assault on Dec. 19, 2025.
She had been standing on the second-story roof of a Lafayette Street home, yelling that she was having a panic attack.
Police took her to the hospital after getting her back inside the house through a window. Kern, who had been wanted on a bench warrant, told them she had taken methamphetamine.
At the hospital she attacked the nurse after slipping out of her restraints.
Kern pleaded guilty to resisting arrest and simple assault. The remaining charges were dropped.
Judge Christopher Hobbs sentenced her to two years on probation on the each charge, to be served consecutively.
He also ordered her to pay court costs and fees; submit a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee; obtain drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations and comply with any recommended treatment; pay a $65 monthly supervision fee; and have no contact with the victim.
