Turnpike crashes
State police at the Pocono barracks reported the following crashes that occurred on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike:
• Jason A. Hersh, 51, of Lehighton, was cited after a two-vehicle crash at 5:42 a.m. June 4 at mile marker 64.4 in North Whitehall Township, police said. No one was injured in the incident.
Police said that he was driving a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek that passed a 2026 Ford F-350 operated by Mark E. Sumeriski, 56, of Marydel, Maryland, and struck it on the side after immediately reentering the left lane. The Crosstrek then hit the center concrete barrier, coming to rest on the right side of the highway. The Subaru was towed from the scene.
• Austin E. Roth III, 60, of Lehighton, had suspected minor injuries after a one-vehicle crash at 7:36 p.m. May 19 at mile marker 75.6 in Parryville Borough.
Police said he was driving a 2013 Nissan Murano northbound on the acceleration ramp of the Mahoning Valley Interchange when the vehicle veered to the right and hit a guide rail. The Nissan was towed from the scene.
Roth was cited for careless driving, according to police.
• Damage was minor in a two-vehicle crash at 7:40 p.m. March 24 at mile marker 71 in East Penn Township.
Police said the crash occurred when an unknown vehicle traveling in the right lane swerved to the left lane and struck the passenger-side mirror of a 2014 Jeep Cherokee being driven by Valentina Vavlas, 24, of Yatesville.
