June 12, 1977 — Roberta Spezialetti of Panther Valley receives Most Valuable Player honors at the Schuylkill League all-star softball contest. The game was part of a boys-girls doubleheader pitting the top players from the North against the South. Spezialetti paces the North girls with a double, triple and three RBIs. Marian’s Sharon Jaso knocks in what proves to be the winning run in the sixth inning as the North prevails, 13-12. Other area players participating in the contest include Panther Valley’s Allyn DeGatis and Marian’s Sharon Kennedy.
