The congregation of the West Penn Immanuel United Methodist Church broke ground for a new addition to its facility, making room for an anticipated increase in the number of children who will attend Sunday school there.
Church members and their pastor, the Rev. Garry Snyder, were joined by members of their sister parish, Reynolds Zion Church, in turning over the ground where the facility will be built.
The new structure will be a 35-by-22-foot addition that was designed by Daniel Poncavage. It will be built by Kupres Brothers, with the plumbing and electrical work to be done by Dave Osenbach of Ozzie’s Plumbing.
The church, also known as Moyer’s Church, is in its 122nd year, having been rebuilt in 1886.
