Local Roundup: Results from June 9

The Lehigh Valley was eliminated from the Phillies’ Carpenter Cup tournament on Tuesday, dropping a 5-1 decision to Jersey Shore.

Elsewhere, Franklin Township continued its winning ways in LV Junior Connie Mack action with a victory over Lehigh White.

Jersey Shore-Lehigh Valley

Pleasant Valley’s Braydon Green recorded a hit and Palmerton’s Cameron Pengelly saw action on the mound as Lehigh Valley dropped a 5-1 decision to Jersey Shore in the opening round of the Phillies Carpenter Cup Classic at Camden Athletic Fields.

Green finished 1-for-1 at the plate, accounting for one of Lehigh Valley’s three hits in the all-star showcase. Both Jaxson Kreider and Daifer Moreta also singled for Lehigh Valley, while Tanner Karwacki drove in the team’s lone run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Pengelly worked 2/3 of an inning in relief, striking out one batter as part of Lehigh Valley’s six-pitcher effort.

Jersey Shore took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Jake Liotti stole home before extending its advantage to 3-0 on Brody Powers’ two-run double in the third. Powers finished with two RBIs to pace the Jersey Shore offense.

Franklin Township won its sixth consecutive game by downing Lehigh White 13-5.

Owen Moyer paced FT’s 14-hit attack with three. He scored two times and had an RBI.

Alex Kish also had a big game offensively with two hits, three runs and two RBIs. Jakoby Andrews added a pair of hits and two RBIs.

Other Franklin players with two hits included Brody Hunsicker, Miles Mann and Chase Pretko.

Nazareth exploded for six first-inning runs and cruised to an 11-1 victory.

Ethan Teitsworth pitched four innings, allowing just two hits and no earned runs while striking out six for the winners. He also aided his own cause with two hits and two RBIs.

Braden Wilvert added a pair of hits and two runs, while Bryce Cramer contributed a double and three RBIs.

For the Chargers, Dace Dever had a hit and an RBI. Brayden Scott had the other NV hit, while Benjamin Storch walked and scored a run.

Every Lower Macungie player either had a hit, a run or an RBI in rolling past Palmerton, 22-2.

Chase Geiger led the way offensively for the winners, going 3-for-3 with four runs and three RBIs.

Ryan Groller also finished with three hits, one a triple, and scored three runs. J. Correa-Negron and A. Burton both collected two hits and knocked in three runs.

For the Bombers, Walter Haas had a double and two RBIs.

Jim Thorpe used a seven-run rally in the top of the sixth inning to tie its game with North Parkland, but the Buffaloes came back with a three-run home sixth to earn an 11-8 victory.

Daniel Off delivered a two-run single during Thorpe’s comeback, while Carter Reis also had a run-scoring hit.

Jionni Puddu finished with a pair of hits in the losing effort. Lyric Searfoss added a hit and two RBIs.

Northern Lehigh

Northern Lehigh opened the game’s scoring, but failed to dent the scoreboard the rest of the way and dropped a 7-1 decision to Lehigh Township.

Rhys Regan singled in the home first and scored when Andrew Stettler delivered a double, but Nolehi couldn’t push any other run across.

Regan finished with a pair of hits, while Jackson Fahringer and Ethan Henritzy both also had hits.

Berlinsville-Limeport

The Berlinsville Braves dropped a 7-1 decision to the Limeport Dodgers.

Palmerton graduate Luke Netznik reached base in all three of his plate appearances for the Braves, collecting two hits and a walk.

The winners received a double, a triple and an RBI from Zach Ehritz, while Brad Rissmiller added a hit and two RBIs.
