Want to attend a Schuylkill County commissioners meeting but can’t make it to their usual 10 a.m. sessions?
You’re in luck.
Commissioners will hold one of their four yearly evening meetings at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the county courthouse, Pottsville.
The county has been holding four meetings a year — on March 11, June 10, Sept. 9 and Dec. 9 — since 2024. Prior to that, three evening meetings were held each year.
Coincidentally, the county Planning Commission also gathers at 6 p.m. Wednesday for a regularly scheduled meeting, also at the courthouse.
The Planning Commission agenda will begin with a discussion of the county’s proposed Responsible Infrastructure Development Plan, which would provide guidance for such major developments as data centers.
The commission will also discuss a zoning ordinance amendment for data centers.
Because about half the county’s municipalities have their own zoning and land use rules, the county level ordinance would only apply to those that do not have their own guidelines in effect.
The agendas for both county commissioners and planners are included on the county website, https://schuylkillcountypa.gov.
