The Carbon County Coroner’s Office released details Monday afternoon on a murder-suicide incident in East Side Borough on Friday evening.
Initially, officers from the Kidder Township Police Department and the Pennsylvania State Police were dispatched to a residence following concerns related to a 9-1-1 hang-up call. Upon arrival, Pennsylvania State Police found two bodies inside a motor home situated on the property.
Following the preliminary investigation conducted by the Pennsylvania State Police, the Carbon County Coroner’s Office was requested to respond to the scene and arrived on scene at 2:53 a.m.
Upon arrival, representatives of the Carbon County Coroner’s Office assessed the scene and initiated a death investigation in conjunction with the Pennsylvania State Police.
The coroner said Beth Allyson Esa, 58, of East Side killed Samuel Douglas Macadam, 59, formerly of Hazle Township. Macadam’s death has been ruled a homicide due to gunshot wound.
Esa then turned the gun on herself.
Esa and Macadam were pronounced dead by Chief Deputy Coroner, Jason T. Smith at 3:40 and 3:41 a.m. Saturday.
The investigation was conducted jointly by the Pennsylvania State Police and the Carbon County Coroner’s Office.
