Turnpike crashes

State police at the Pocono barracks reported the following crashes that occurred on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike:

• No one was hurt in a collision at 1:10 p.m. on May 31 at mile marker 75.2 in Parryville.

Police said that crash occurred when a woman was driving a vehicle that struck the back of a 2019 Ford Flex operated by Sally A. Estrada, 55, of Wayne.

They said both vehicles pulled off the road and the driver of the striking vehicle, described as a “younger woman,” fled the scene in the car after the Estrada mentioned calling police.

• Justyn J. Sandt, 23, of Slatington, was cited after a three-vehicle crash at 2:44 p.m. on May 20 at mile marker 80.7 in Penn Forest Township. No one was injured.

Police said he was driving a 2024 Dodge Durango northbound when an unknown tractor-trailer in front of his vehicle changed lanes, cutting in front of him. He said he slammed on his brakes to avoid the collision, but the Durango was struck from behind by a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado operated by Lucas P. Heffner, 34, of Brookville.

The Silverado was then struck by a 2026 Dodge Durango that was driven by Chayse J. Dunn 31, of Yucaipa, California, before all of the vehicles came to a halt, police said.

• Janiah A. Lomas, 23, of Wilkes-Barre, was cited after a one-vehicle crash at 5:50 p.m. on May 20 at mile marker 81.7 in Penn Forest Township.

Police said she had suspected minor injuries and was transported by personnel from the Lehighton Ambulance Association to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township.

Police said she was driving a southbound 2021 Toyota Corolla during a heavy rainstorm when she lost control of the car. It spun out and crashed into the center concrete divider, police said, sustaining disabling damage that required it to be towed from the scene.
