Nesquehoning Borough Council acted on the following items last week.
• Approved a motion for conditional approval of the preliminary Carbon Node East Development Land Development Plan. This was sent from the borough planning commission, which gave conditional approval last month.
• Mayor Tom Kattner reminded drivers that school will be out shortly and to watch for children playing near roadways.
• Approved Nesquehoning Hose Co. 1’s requests to attend events on June 13, 19 and 27, and fire police at the Carbon County Fair Aug. 3-8.
• New addresses for Keel Infrastructure at 650 and 443 Industrial Road, new addresses at 652 Industrial Road for the main entrance, 37 Dennison Road for a secondary entrance and 347 Industrial Road for the project control site.
• LED lighting be installed at the sewer plant for $1,209.54.
• Adopted ordinance 2026-5, which amends the sewers and sewage disposal tapping fees.
• Appointed Rose Chapello to serve on the borough planning commission.
• Council President Bruce Nalesnik announced that a preliminary drawing for phase 2 of the New Columbus park project. The phase includes additional walkways and playground work. He added that the borough is hoping phase 1 specs will be ready soon so it could go to bid.
