Letter to the editor: Where are ‘teen takeovers’ headed?

As summer approaches, law enforcement and city leaders nationwide are concerned about rising viral “teen takeovers” disrupting neighborhoods, malls, parks, and restaurants with fights, robberies, vandalism, and gunfire as large groups of juveniles overwhelm public places.

It is surprising that most of these unruly events are taking place, not only in progressive blue states but red states as well.

Many of these gatherings are organized and can swell within hours, leaving businesses, residents, and police struggling to respond.

The cause of this degeneration of society is evident in the alarming decline of public morals since the sexual revolution of the 1960s.

This revolution contributed to many broken marriages and families. Sadly, many Christians have also followed this trend.

Instead of resisting the breakdown of the family, many have supported divorce and cohabitation, making such arrangements easier to accept.

As a result, these concessions have become common and widely accepted.

This decline causes the weakening of the family. When the family breaks down, it causes the most degrading relationships, the loosest morals, and the most broken homes often follow. Divorce and cohabitation help lay the groundwork for further decline of the youth.

These “teen takeovers” are also fueled by progressive cultural influences and laws enacted by liberal Democrat politicians that undermine moral standards. Non-cash-bail policies, which reduce the consequences of crime, and resistance to officials who enforce immigration laws further weaken the social fabric that holds society together.

Another possible factor behind these disruptions, though rarely mentioned, is the influence of unknown socialist agitators seeking to gain acceptance by creating distrust in our leadership, government institutions and economy.

It is reasonable to ask whether these agitators aim to incite a revolution like the “French Revolution.” It appears all the groundwork is being prepared to move in that direction.
