Lions Club makes donations to two area libraries
A basket raffle was held recently at the Bowmanstown-Parryville Lions Club Block Shoot.
Proceeds from the basket raffle were designated to be donated equally to the two libraries within the club’s service area, the Palmerton Area Library and Lehighton Area Memorial Library.
Jane Roberts, secretary, Lehighton Area Memorial Library board of directors, attended the club’s regular meeting on May 4 and was presented with a $700 check
Marian Hoffner, president, Palmerton Area Library board of trustees, attended the club’s regular meeting on May 18 and was presented with a $700 check.
Each representative gave a brief overview of the resources available to the community and services provided by each library, and noted any specific needs they hope to address, or resources they hope to increase, with the donation received.
The Bowmanstown-Parryville Lions thanked the representatives for attending our meetings, noting how very important the libraries are to the communities they serve.
The Lions motto is “We Serve” — through the Club’s many fundraising activities the moneys realized are used throughout the year to assist local charities and organizations — “Thank You” to all who attend and participate in their Lion’s Club activities.
The club is always accepting new members, and anyone interested in joining the Bowmanstown-Parryville Lions Club may contact Loraine Neal at 610-597-1875.
