CCTI principal reports; new leader starts Monday
The interim principal of Carbon Career & Technical Institute, Thomas Lesisko, gave his final principal’s report to the Joint Operating Committee on Thursday.
The new incoming principal, William Mack, starts on Monday.
David Reinbold, CCTI administrative director, thanked Lesisko for his service to the school.
“His experience showed; he hit the ground running (and was) dedicated to career and tech education, dedicated to the students,” Reinbold said. “He did a great job, and I think he did the teamwork really well. He got a lot of things done, and we really appreciate that.”
Lesisko, a veteran educator who taught at CCTI and retired in 2025 as Jim Thorpe Area High School principal, thanked Reinbold for the compliments.
“I really appreciate the opportunity to be here because it is a wonderful team to work with and the students are amazing,” he said. “Their dedication to their programs and academics together is wonderful. Thank you.”
Lesisko also spoke about awards night at the school.
“What’s so special about this awards night is that, while it’s about GPA, it’s about grades and scholarships and community service; there is also the technical recognition from industry people,” he said. “The technical instructors are often with these students three or four years, and the anecdotal stories about each students shows the bonds that are created.”
In addition, Lesisko reported on the health/medical program pinning ceremony. He thanked and congratulated Donna McClain, health medical instructor, and Dean John Wychilus, health medical instructional aide, for their hard work in preparing for the event.
Also of note, the senior class outing was May 21 at Knoebels Amusement Resort, and the junior class trip to Mauch Chunk Lake was May 22.
Field Day was May 20 at CCTI. Reinbold and Lesisko thanked Brandi Schmoyer, underclass adviser, for her organization and planning of the day, as well as the rest of the staff for their cooperation.
The school prom was held May 8 at Blue Mountain Resort.
CCTI’s graduation will be Thursday, beginning at 5 p.m. on the upper field on the CCTI grounds, and will feature 103 students in the Class of 2026 receiving diplomas.
