No one was injured after a garage caught fire Tuesday night in Lehighton.

Borough Assistant Fire Chief Michael Mriss said firefighters were dispatched at around 9:20 p.m. to 130 N. First St., rear, for a garage fire.

“We encountered heavy fire from the garage doors,” Mriss said.

Mriss added that firefighters had the situation under control within about 15 minutes.

He said the garage suffered heavy damage.

Mriss said the cause of the fire is unknown, and is under investigation by a state police fire marshal.

He said firefighters remained on scene for about two hours.
