Nesquehoning will have an electronics recycling event in the borough on May 27.
Recycling will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. or until the truck is full, at 50 E. Locust St.
Items accepted for free: desktop and laptop computers, keyboards and mice, printers, fax machines, cables and cords, chargers, tablets, calculators and adding machines, telephones and cellphones, cellphone and laptop batteries, UPS battery backups, ink cartridges, audio visual equipment, filing cabinets, DVD players and VCRs, gaming systems, microwaves and small appliances, metal items and water heaters, empty propane and helium tanks, exercise equipment, car batteries (sealed lead acid), and grills and lawn mowers that have had all fluid drained.
Items recycled for a fee include: washers and dryers, stoves and dishwashers, and computer monitors, $20; televisions under 42 inches, $40 all types; wooden cabinet, projection, big-screen televisions over 42 inches and TV tube or broken screen TVs, $60; air conditioners and dehumidifiers, $25; refrigerators and floor freezers, $35; floor copiers, $20; console stereos in cabinet, $35; toner cartridges, $5; and water cooler or dorm fridge, $25.
Destruction services are available for a fee, including off-site hard drive destruction, $10 per drive; and off-site document destruction, $10 per standard paper-size box. Both include a certificate of destruction.
Only cash and checks accepted.
Checks should be made payable to Responsible Recycling Services or RRS.
Please have exact change if paying by cash, and an envelope is preferred.
