Mahoning Township Supervisors

Mahoning Township supervisors took the following action this month:

• Announced that the Fredericks Grove Road Solar LLC appeal has been dropped.

• Authorized the township solicitor to forward solar and warehouse ordinance amendments to Mahoning Township and Carbon County Planning commissions for review and comment.

• Approved a one-year agreement between the Mahoning Township and Mahoning Township Police Department for a contract from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31. However, details of the contract have not yet been released.

• Adopted the original lease to allow the Mahoning Valley Fire Company to house its new vehicle at 2685 Mahoning Drive East (the township’s old facility garage), upon receipt.

• Agreed to accept the invoice for an LSA grant in the amount of $25,454 for the police department for two Axon Fleet 3-license plate readers.

• Approved the proposal from PSATS for the police pension plan. The police pension plan is currently administered by Columbian Financial, and the township made the switch to Pennsylvania Municipal Trust PSATS.

• Approved an extension until Aug. 12 for the final minor land development plan over lands of Melo Enterprises LLC (Ashtown Drive solar).

• Agreed to send a 911 Surcharge letter of support of increased funding to keep the call centers properly equipped as requested by Carbon County Commissioners.

• Granted authorization to township engineer Peter Eisenbrown to prepare the specs for the FDR project for the unfinished portion of Westside Road.

• Granted a right of way agreement to PPL.

• Agreed to advertise the Mahoning Township handicapped parking ordinance.

• Tabled a handicapped parking sign request from Kevin Maehrer at 114 Jamestown St.

• Awarded the bid for fuels to Suburban Propane.

• Tabled discussion to have the township rejoin the Carbon County Council of Governments.

• Tabled the appointments of a member and alternate to the Carbon County Hazard Mitigation Planning Committee.

• Announced that names and addresses need to be filled out on complaints forms to the township, as any zoning complaints that are received cannot be anonymous due to being thrown out at the magistrate level.
