Electric sites not available at Locust Lake

Campsites with electrical service at Locust Lake State Park will not be available for Memorial Day weekend.

About 170 nonelectric campsites, however, remain open at the park in Barnesville.

According to information from the park, the electric sites remain closed as two recently constructed shower houses continue to undergo the process of receiving occupancy permits. Existing shower facilities near the electric sites cannot support additional campground usage, the park noted.

Occupancy permits cannot be issued until backup emergency lighting repairs are completed and inspected. While permits may be secured shortly after Memorial Day, an estimated time frame for the full opening of the park is not available.

In addition to the electrical sites, 12 newly created sites with electric, sewage and water also remain closed. The park is awaiting a determination from PPL on whether the existing electrical infrastructure can support the anticipated demand.

Guests with affected reservations will be contacted by the reservation team.
