Brooks wins Democratic nomination for PA-7 district

Bob Brooks defeated Ryan Crosswell, Lamont McClure, and Carol Obando-Derstine in the Democratic primary for Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District. Brooks will face incumbent Ryan Mackenzie in November,

Bob Brooks had 19,066 votes. Other totals were Lamont McClure, 10,323, Ryan Crosswell, 9,512 and Carol Obando-Derstine, 7,550.

A resident of Moore Township, Brooks retired as a 20-year Bethlehem firefighter and is president of the Pennsylvania Professional Firefighters Association, representing over 8,000 union firefighters across 74 local affiliates.

He coaches varsity baseball at Nazareth Area High School and sit on the Lehigh Northampton Airport Authority Board.

“I’m a working-class person who’s tired of getting kicked in the teeth,” he told the Times News in his election preview.

The district includes all of Carbon, Lehigh and Northampton counties and parts of Monroe County, including the townships of Eldred, Polk and some of Ross.
