May 18, 1982 — The Tamaqua girls track team rolls past Shenandoah Valley 100-41 to capture the Schuylkill League championship with a perfect 9-0 dual meet record. The Blue Raiders, coached by Phil Houm, win 13 events, including all three relays. Becky Finley captures both the 100 and 200, while Missy Schmer also collects multiple wins by taking the triple jump and high jump. Other individuals who gain firsts in their respective event are Chris Adams (1600), Lori Lawson (3200), Lisa Willing (100 hurdles), Sue Sandefer (300 hurdles), Jane Knadler (shot put) and Janna Zlock (discus).
