Local candidates seek committee positions in Schuylkill
Democratic and Republican voters who go to the polls in Schuylkill County communities will see familiar names on the ballots in 11 municipalities in the Times News area, although races are uncontested.
Here’s a look at state and county committeeman and committeewoman positions on the ballots:
Republicans
Five people are seeking votes at-large throughout the county for state committee positions. Party bylaws state two men, two women and one persons of either general will represent Schuylkill County on the state committee.
The candidates are Gretchen D. Sterns of Deer Lake, Mary Beth Dougherty of Girardville, Seth Hubler of Branch Township, Mike Rader of Butler Township and Larry Wittig of West Penn Township.
Local candidates seeking to represent their districts on the county committee include: Ryan Township, Clyde “Champ’ Holman; Coaldale East, Scott Gerber; East Brunswick Township, Robert J. Bylone Jr.; Kline Township, Jerry Notaro; New Ringgold, Larry Padora; Rush Township East, David Argall; Schuylkill Township: Gary Feathers and Christine Verdier; Tamaqua First, Brian Connely; Tamaqua Second. Mary Linkevich; Tamaqua Third, Robert Coombe; Tamaqua Fourth, Matthew Mastukonis; Walker Township, Nicholas Boyle; West Penn First, Tony Prudenti; West Penn Second, Larry Wittig; and West Penn Third, Brian Miller.
No one is running for positions in Delano Township, Coaldale West, Rush Township West and the Rush Township Elixir districts.
Four people are seeking alternate committeeman or committeewoman positions: Carol Bylone in East Brunswick, Chuck Joseph in Rush Township East, Tyler Hope in Walker Township, Karen Wittig in West Penn Second and Makenna Humes in West Penn Third.
Democrats
Two candidates running to represent Schuylkill County on the state Democratic committee. They are Jack Reilly of Ashland and Elizabeth A. Bettinger of Pottsville. The bylaws call for one man and one woman to be elected.
The candidates for the county Democratic committee are:
Ryan Township, Thomas Bux; Coaldale East, Anna Gallagher and Michael A. Brida; Coaldale West, Mary Gildea Mack and Daniel W. Rickert; New Ringgold, Gerald J. Henn and Patricia Kunkle; Rush Township East, Susan Whildin, Barbara Daderko and Evan G. Evans; Rush Township West, Karen M. Davison and Anthony Marchetti; Schuylkill Township, Lynn Zelonis, Margaret A. Vilcheck and Andrew Hugh Kelly; Tamaqua Third, Tina Burns, Austin Miorelli and Charles Pashley; Tamaqua Fourth, Daniel James Yelito; West Penn First, Cheryl Tennant Humes, Tracey Fenton and Clifford Mongrain; and Tamaqua Second, Ronald Ellison and Todd Zimmerman.
No one is running for the positions in Delano Township, East Brunswick Township, Kline Township, Rush Township Elixir District, Tamaqua’s First and Second districts and Walker Township.
