Carbon Community Foundation celebrates its 10th anniversary

The Carbon County Community Foundation invites the community to join in celebrating a decade of local philanthropy at its 10-Year Anniversary Celebration on Friday, May 29, from 5:30-9:30 p.m. at Blue Mountain Resort in Palmerton.

The anniversary celebration will offer an evening of dinner, a silent auction, music and dancing. Guests are encouraged to dress in cocktail attire for the occasion.

Tickets are available as individual or couple admissions, making the event a natural fit for a date night out.

The celebration will honor the foundation’s first 10 years of grantmaking and community impact, as well as the people who helped make it possible with the presentation of the 2026 Community Awards, recognizing outstanding businesses, nonprofit organizations, and community leaders whose work continues to strengthen Carbon County.

“Ten years ago, we set out to build something lasting for Carbon County,” said Sharon Alexander, president of the Carbon County Community Foundation.

“Our founders saw what we still see today: a community full of generous people ready to make a difference,” she said. “They set out to build the vehicle that would make that possible, and the Carbon County Community Foundation was born.

“This celebration is for every donor, nonprofit partner, volunteer and community leader who has been part of that journey. We hope everyone will join us.”

The foundation also wanted to use this milestone moment to shine a light on others.

The 2026 Community Awards, presented for the first time this year, honor the businesses, nonprofits and individuals whose work alongside the foundation has helped make Carbon County a stronger, more generous community.

The 2026 Community Award honorees are:

• Corporate Business Leadership Awards: Jim Thorpe Neighborhood Bank and Mauch Chunk Trust Company.

• Nonprofit Excellence Awards: Established Organization, Shepherd House Inc.; Growing Organization, St. Peter’s Community Resource Center; and Emerging Organization, Hardship Heroes.

• Community Advocate Awards: Jessica Jones and Lynn Shupp.

• Trusted Advisor Award: Joseph J. Velitsky, Esq.

Tickets can be purchased at www.cccfoundpa.org/anniversary. Sponsorship opportunities also remain available, ranging from $250 to $5,000.

Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, a limited number of complimentary tickets are available for area nonprofits whose budgets may not allow them to attend.

Organizations interested in requesting a complimentary ticket should contact the foundation at director@cccfoundpa.org or 610-730-2526.

The Carbon County Community Foundation was formed in 2016 with the mission to improve the quality of life for all Carbon County residents, now and forever.

The organization does this by offering individuals, families, and businesses the most effective charitable giving tools available in the marketplace today.

That’s combined with expertise in philanthropic planning, nonprofit sector issues and community priorities.

Since 2016, the charitable funds at the foundation have cumulatively awarded more than $2 million in grants and scholarships to nonprofit and community organizations, teachers, schools and students in Carbon County.

“We are honored to work with hundreds of donors, nonprofits, advisers and civic leaders to build resources and strengthen our community, forever.” Alexander said.
