A 53-year-old Barnesville man died in a motorcycle crash at 4:26 p.m. Wednesday in Mountain Road, Blythe Township.

State police at the Frackville barracks said James P. Lake, 53, of Barnesville, was pronounced dead at the Lehigh Valley Hospital-East, Pottsville, following attempted life-saving measures.

Police said he was operating a 2023 Triumph Tiger north on Mountain Road in an area where the road bears left at the Tumbling Run Road intersection. They said Lake lost control of the cycle, which overturned onto its side, traveled across the roadway and came to rest on the shoulder of the road.

Police said Lake, who was wearing a helmet at the time, was transported to the hospital by personnel from the Pottsville/Schuylkill Haven Area EMS corps.
