Panther Creek earns governor’s employer award
The Pennsylvania Workforce Development Association announced that Panther Creek Power Operating LLC of Nesquehoning was one of eight local employers and organizations to receive the Governor’s Employer Award for Achievement.
The awardees were honored at the association’s 42nd annual conference on May 6 in Hershey.
The Governor’s Employer Award for Achievement recognizes Pennsylvania employers who support workforce development in our communities.
These employers have created jobs and partnered to hire skilled workers through Pennsylvania’s workforce development system.
“Every one of these employers understands that workforce development isn’t a program; it’s a commitment,” said Lauren Holubec, executive director of the Pennsylvania Workforce Development Association.
“From supporting veterans to opening doors for individuals with disabilities to investing in the next generation of workers, these organizations have shown what it looks like to be true partners in Pennsylvania’s economic future,” she said. “We’re honored to recognize them alongside the Department of Labor & Industry and our other partners.”
PWDA presents its Governor’s Employer Award for Achievement with its partners, the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry Workforce Deputate, the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services and the Pennsylvania Department of Military & Veterans Affairs.
Panther Creek Power Operating LLC understands that veterans bring leadership, adaptability, teamwork and technical expertise to the workplace. The company embraces these qualities as valuable assets and uses the PA CareerLink system to ensure veterans receive the support they need to succeed.
A recent example highlights this approach: twin brothers who had recently transitioned from the Navy were working with the Disabled Veterans’ Outreach Program specialist to find civilian careers.
Through collaboration with the local veterans employment representative and Panther Creek Power, they were referred, interviewed and hired into positions that perfectly matched their skills and experience.
Panther Creek Power’s ongoing engagement with CareerLink demonstrates respect for the workforce development system and the specialized roles that support veteran employment. By maintaining open communication and actively collaborating, the company strengthens the local workforce while setting a strong example for other employers.
Their work honors veterans’ service and highlights the continued contributions they make in Pennsylvania’s workforce, proving that valor is not only recognized in service but celebrated every day in the workplace.
