W. Penn police discuss D.A.R.E.

The West Penn Township Police Department released its activity report for April.

During the month, police patrolled 4,784 miles and issued 44 traffic citations and 13 traffic warnings. There were nine motor vehicle accidents and a total of 88 calls.

Also during the month, police held the annual D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) graduation and challenge at West Penn Elementary School.

Chief Jason Lorah thanked supervisors for attending the graduation ceremony for the fifth graders.

He also thanked the West Penn Township Fire Company and Penn Mahoning Ambulance for their attendance at the D.A.R.E. Challenge.

“I think we had a really good year, and the kids had a really good time,” Lorah said.

Supervisors’ Chairman Tony Prudenti thanked police for volunteering their time with the program.

“If we can save one child, it’s a home run,” Prudenti said.

He said he was very impressed to see police teach the students about fingerprinting, accidents and more.
