Luncheon

A “Tell Me About Mama” luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. May 19 at Grace Free Church, 10 Hollenbush Lane, Orwigsburg. The event is sponsored by Schuylkill Women’s Connection/Stonecroft Ministries.

Attendees are asked to bring a photo of their mother for a special recognition.

The speaker will be Rebecca Davis. Gussie LaPlaca will provide music. Tracy Morgan will present a tribute to mothers.

Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on April 30 with 22 members present.

The president opened the meeting with the invocation recited by a member.

A member brought snacks and a member delivered the food. The meeting closed and bingo was played.

The group meets at 1 p.m. Thursdays from the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited.

Food sale

St. John Lutheran Church in Tamaqua will be selling homemade ham and string bean soup by the quart and ham salad by the pint from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 16. The items are for takeout only from the 200 E. Mauch Chunk Street church.

St. Peter’s — West Penn

The Sunday worship service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn is at 9 a.m. with a joyous noise offering. Adult Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m.

Tuesday is the deadline for the June newsletter. The prayer group meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday followed by the WASP Mother/Daughter Tea at 6:30 p.m.

Retirees meet at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. On May 14, the Cherub Choir meets at 6 p.m.

Calvary Lewistown

The 11 a.m. Sunday service at Calvary Evangelical Church in Lewistown will be filled with honor and gratitude to mothers through readings, music and the message. Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m. There will be no Sunday evening service.

There will be no prayer service Wednesday evening. However, a cleanup at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle will be held beginning at 5 p.m.

The Ascension Day service will be held May 14 beginning with a hymn sing at 7:15 p.m. and service at 7:30 p.m. at Christ Church, Route 443, McKeansburg.

Rummage sale

St. John UCC, 150 Pine St., Tamaqua, is extending its rummage sale. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 13. The church invites all to check out its last minute treasures and to make a deal. All reasonable offers will be accepted.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.
