Lower Towamensing Township has endorsed an estimated $15 million construction project in the Palmerton Area School District.
Supervisors on Tuesday approved the deed of dedication of easement, stormwater management agreement, and their land development condition on the signing of the developers agreement.
The project consists of a two-story addition to Palmerton Area High School complete with a secured entrance, five new teaching spaces and renovated administrative offices, along with a separate, 11,000-square-foot district administration building to be constructed on the lawn west of the high school gymnasium.
Also at last month’s meeting, supervisors granted the following waivers, as recommended by the planning commission:
• A land development be first submitted as a preliminary plan.
• Final security, including a construction cost estimate approved by the township, was required to be secured with the township before final plan approval.
• Inlet boxes must conform to Pennsylvania Department of Transportation standards for roadway construction.
• Minimum drainage conveyance pipe must be 15 inches in diameter.
