South Carbon takes early lead

Tuesday was a day to meet up old friends and make new ones during the kickoff events of the 2026 Carbon County Senior Games.

But who will capture the Commissioners’ Cup? Will it be North Carbon County, which is made up of Panther Valley, Jim Thorpe and Weatherly senior centers; or will the title remain in the South, comprised of Lehighton and Palmerton seniors? Only time will tell.

With one day of competition in the books, South Carbon takes an early lead with a combined score of 92; while the North has scored a combined total of 25. Points are awarded for each medal. Gold represents five points, silver, three points; and bronze, one point.

The first-day events included cornhole toss and ladder ball.
