Man charged with attempted homicide, child abuse over 6 years
A Monroe County man has been charged with child abuse and other crimes that started in 2020 and continued through last month.
On March 7, Pocono Mountain Regional Police initiated an investigation into child abuse and domestic violence spanning several years.
The complaint was initiated by a child welfare complaint initiated by the Newark New Jersey Police Department.
Through the investigation, police learned that there had been ongoing domestic violence within the residence in the 2100 block of Green Road.
This violence included an incident where a child at the residence was chased around the property by Felix Codrington, 48, of Tobyhanna.
Codrington chased the child with an AR-15 type rifle and near the child.
Codrington drug the child inside the residence and assaulted the child requiring hospitalization.
In another instance, Codrington assaulted a woman within the residence.
During this assault, Codrington discharged a firearm near her head, causing hearing loss and damage.
Several other assaults requiring medical treatment were reported during this time frame.
Eventually, a male victim was able to flee the residence to New Jersey where he would get updates and communications from within the home of the escalating violence.
He then reported this to the Newark Police, initiating the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department investigation.
On April 29, Codrington was taken into custody with an arrest warrant.
On the same day, a search warrant was served on his property.
Police located evidence that corroborated the victim’s account.
Codrington faces charges of attempted criminal homicide, aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child, strangulation, possessing an instrument of crime, terroristic threats, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person.
Codrington was arraigned before District Judge Phillip Riley, with no bail set.
He is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing May 12 before District Judge Danielle Travagline.
