Marian’s baseball team won their eighth consecutive game on Friday to take over first in the Schuylkill League Division 2 standings.
In other action, Northern Lehigh’s softball team edged Jim Thorpe in extra innings.
SOFTBALL

Northern Lehigh received key homers from Kenzie Chrusical and Kylee Snyder to pull out a narrow 8-7 extra-inning win over host Jim Thorpe.
Chrusical’s blast to left in the sixth inning tied the game and eventually sent it to extra innings, while Snyder’s two-run shot in the eight gave the Bulldogs the lead. The Olympians plated a run in the home eighth on Anderson’s single but Nolehi pitcher Tegan Simms gets a strikeout with the tying run on third to end the game.
The win clinched a district playoff berth for the Bulldogs.
Emily Gad finished 4-for-5 with two RBIs for Northern Lehigh while Snyder ended with three hits and three runs. Simms also collected three hits, including a double.
For the Olympians, who used a six-run third inning to take a 6-3 advantage, Hannah Zacharias went 4-for-5 at the plate. Madison Schwartz added two hits and two RBIs, while Kaylyn Costello contributed a 2-for-4 effort.

BASEBALL
Schuylkill Haven-Marian
Marian moved into sole possession of first place in Division 2 of the Schuylkill League with a 10-3 victory over Schuylkill Haven.
The Colts, winners of eight straight, exploded for eight runs in the sixth inning to turn a close lead into a decisive advantage.
Mitchell Knock and Roman Bednarek both had two-run doubles during the big sixth, while Danny Lemus and Cole Jordan each doubled and knocked in a run during the frame. Cole Defrancisco and Rocco Griguoli added RBI singles.
Bednarek pitched six innings, allowing just three hits and one earned run while striking out four. He also finished with two hits.
Jordan and Brayden Grant also had two hits, with Grant scoring two runs.

Blue Jay Classic
Tamaqua was one of 16 schools participating in the Blue Jay Classic at Central Columbia High School.
Katelynn Fredericks earned a first place for the Blue Raiders, while Shaylee Gormley collected a pair of runner-up finishes.
Fredericks won the 300 hurdles in a time of 48.00. Gormely was second in both the 400, crossing in 1:03.38, and the 800 with a mark of 2:27.20.
The Tamaqua girls 3200 relay team also earned a second place with a time of 10:42.35.
Third-place finishes for the Raiders included Gio Rivera-Poke (110 hurdles), Parker Steencken (3200), and the boys 400 and 1600 relay teams.
BOYS LACROSSE
Northwestern-Moravian Ac.
Moravian Academy pulled out a 10-9 overtime victory over Northwestern on Thursday.
Tyler Kaas had four goals for the Tigers, while Braydon Uricchio and Kendall Wikert both added a pair.
Trey Snyder accounted for the other Northwestern tally and Logan Uricchio added an assist.
Tiger goalie Dane Kauker finished with 13 saves.
