Local Roundup: Results from April 28
Pleasant Valley’s baseball team swept a doubleheader against Pocono Mountain on Tuesday to help its playoff chances.
The Bears now need to win two of their final three games to clinch a district berth.
In other action, Marian gained wins in baseball and softball while Northwestern picked up three victories (softball, boys and girls lacrosse).
BASEBALL
Pleasant Valley-PM West
(1st game)
In the first game of a doubleheader, Owen Walters went 4-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored to help Pleasant Valley take down Pocono Mountain West 12-6 in EPC play.
Chase Borger led the Bears with three RBIs, while Ty Borger hurled three scoreless innings with six strikeouts. Gavin Bates also registered two RBIs.
Kolby Kaulfers had a team-high three RBIs for the Panthers, all coming on a bases-clearing double in the fourth.

In the second game of the doubleheader, Gavin Bates collected three RBIs to help Pleasant Valley sweep Pocono Mountain West with a 10-1 EPC win.
Braydon Green went 2-for-2 for the Bears and produced two RBIs, while Sam Smale smashed a two-run single.
The Panthers were limited to three hits, including two from Sean Brauning.

Marian-Nativity
The pitching duo of Cole Defrancisco and Cole Jordan combined for five strikeouts and helped propel Marian to a 5-2 Schuylkill League victory over Nativity.
The Colts broke the ice with three runs in the fourth, including a two-run double by Ethan Ladenburg.
After the Hilltoppers cut the lead to 3-2 in the fifth, Brayden Grant and Danny Lemus each produced RBIs in the sixth to restore Marian’s three-run lead.

Dominic Rynard struck out 13 batters and launched a home run to help Pottsville defeat Panther Valley 6-2 in Schuylkill League action.
Christian Alvarez led the Tide with three RBIs, including a two-run double to open the scoring in the second.
The Panthers broke the shutout in the seventh with RBIs from Carson Jones and Kaden Koerbler.

Riley Sebastian struck out 12 batters, and only allowed one hit and two walks to help Blue Mountain shut out Tamaqua 2-0 in Schuylkill League action.
Brady Strause and Sonny Amato each had two hits for the Eagles, and Evan Setlock earned the team’s only RBI of the contest.
Jake Yenser of the Raiders struck out six, and only allowed one earned run on four hits and one walk in a losing effort. Haniel Montero picked up the Raiders’ only hit.

Jude Plesnarski struck out eight batters in five scoreless innings to help Minersville shut out Weatherly 10-0 in Schuylkill League play.
Garrett Sukeena picked up four RBIs to lead the Miners, while Nolan Plesnarski went 4-for-4 including a two-run hit.
Kameron Jacoby and Noah Mayernick each collected one hit for the Wreckers.

Nativity-Marian
Malina Letcher’s three-hit day helped Marian gain a 6-1 Schuylkill League victory over visiting Nativity.
Letcher delivered an RBI single in her first at-bat. She hit a two-run home run in the third inning, and added a double in the sixth.
The Fillies’ Hannah Treskolasky finished with two singles, a walk and two runs.
Lauren Clark accounted for the Golden Girls’ only run with a solo homer in the fourth.

A nine-run sixth inning allowed Pocono Mountain West to pull away from Pleasant Valley for a 14-3 EPC victory.
The Bears held a 1-0 lead after two innings thanks to a Rylee Green first-inning RBI double, which scored Emma DePalma.
After falling behind 2-1, Rylan Knapp knotted the score with an RBI single in the fourth that brought home Emma George.
Knapp finished with two hits, and scored her team’s final run on an Emily Fox single.
The Panthers received a grand slam from Chloe Straub, while Julia McPhee blasted a solo homer.

Anna Borden sparked the Eagles with two hits, two runs and four RBIs.
For the Blue Raiders, Nico Conahan collected a pair of hits while Paige Bumbulsky added a hit, a run and an RBI.

Eila O’Brien pitched a five-inning one-hitter, with Olivia Marasco’s triple in the fifth the Wreckers’ only hit.
Grace Sterner had a pair of hits and scored two runs for the winners, who broke open the game with a six-run third inning.
Weatherly pitcher Abby Binder struck out three to reach 100 strikeouts this season, and 200 for her career.

Natalie Conner belted a pair of home runs to help power Northwestern to a 13-2 Colonial League victory over rival Northern Lehigh.
Conner hit a solo homer in the fourth inning, and added a two-run shot during a five-run fifth frame. She also collected an RBI double.
The Tigers’ Ella Bressi contributed three hits and three runs, while Abby Dunstan doubled, scored three times and had an RBI.
For Nolehi, Kenzie Chrusical had two hits and Tegan Simms ended with a hit and a run.

Tyler Kaas added four goals and a pair of assists, while the Tigers also received three tallies and four helpers from Brayden Uricchio.
Trey Snyder and Logan Uricchio both chipped in with two assists.

Cali Colistra scored four goals to help Northwestern earn a 12-6 road victory over Northampton.
The Tigers also received a pair of goals from Madelyn Lagowy, Hayden Schmidt and Ella Collins.
Northwestern spread the wealth on the attack, as the Tigers doubled up on Northampton for a 12-6 victory on the road.
Olivia Fagan also chipped in with a goal and an assist.
