State police at Fern Ridge
State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following incidents:
• Police charged a man with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance after a traffic stop they made at 3:30 a.m. March 24.
They did not identify the driver of the vehicle, or his residence, but said he was found in control of drugs after the stop was made in the 1200 block of Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.
Two more drivers are facing the same charges after traffic stops in Chestnuthill townships at 2:46 a.m. March 13 in the 1700 block of Route 209 and 1:40 a.m. March 10 in the 100 block of Weir Lake Road.
• Police charged a driver with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop at 1:41 a.m. March 13 on Deer Path Road, Chestnuthill Township.
• A driver is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance after police made a traffic stop at 2:21 a.m. March 1 on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.
• A 43-year-old Hazleton man is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after police made a traffic stop at 7:49 a.m. March 28.
He was stopped in a 2025 Nissan Kicks for summary violations on Interstate 80 westbound in Kidder Township.
• A 38-year-old Freeland man is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after police made a traffic stop at 5:22 p.m. March 26.
He was stopped in a 2019 Mazda for speeding on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township.
• A 48-year-old Effort man reported a theft at 3:26 p.m. March 11 on Sugar Hollow Road, Chestnuthill Township.
Police said he made contact with someone via Facebook concerning a truck and trailer for sale. The man paid a $1,000 deposit for the truck via Cash App. He said he and the seller agreed to meet on Forest Drive, Palmerton, but the victim learned the post was a scam.
• Mark Parker, 58, of Stroudsburg, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after police made a traffic stop at 12:54 a.m. March 28.
He was driving a 2015 Chevrolet in the 100 block of Baxter’s Boundary, Chestnuthill Township.
• A 73-year-old Stroudsburg man reported a theft by deception/wire fraud incident at 9 a.m. March 17 on Balson Road, Jackson Township.
He told police he received a phone call from a man pretending to be from the FBI who told the man his credit card was being sued fictitiously. The caller advised him to transfer $40,135.67 to another bank account to catch the person using his credit card.
Police said the man made the transfer from his Bank of America account to another account in that bank.
• Rashida Mitchell Lopez, 44, of Stroudsburg, was cited for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after police were called to Grand Mesa Drive, Chestnuthill Township.
Police said they were called to investigate after an unknown woman was banging on doors. They said Lopez was returned to her residence and the charges were filed.
