Local Roundup: Results from April 13
Jim Thorpe and Palmerton both gained wins in baseball and softball action on Monday.
The Olympians used a strong offensive attack in their games, while the Bombers received outstanding pitching.
Northwestern and Panther Valley also posted softball wins.
BASEBALL
Jim Thorpe-Catty
Jim Thorpe rallied from a deficit to force extra innings before claiming a wild 15-12 Colonial League victory over Catasauqua.
The Olympians trailed 12-6 after five innings before starting their comeback. Thorpe plated three runs in both the sixth and seventh to tie the score, and then tallied three runs in the eighth to earn its fifth consecutive win.
Cole Lazorick had three hits and scored twice for the Olympians, while Brody Schrantz reached base four time with a single, double and two walks. Schrantz also scored three runs and knocked in two.
The winners also received two hits and three runs from Noah Pastor, who earned the win in relief. Michael Antignani added a pair of hits, two runs and two RBIs.

Palmerton-Pen Argyl
Palmerton’s Brady Reph pitched a three-hit shutout to outduel Pen Argyl’s Cayden Vishnesky, and the Bombers gained a 1-0 Colonial League victory.
Reph walked one and struck out seven, while Vishnesky tossed six frames and fanned 14.
Palmerton pushed across the only run of the game in the fifth inning when Jason Carelli singled in Alex Keiper.
Carelli finished with two hits, while Gaige McGowan added a double.

Bangor scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to gain a 5-4 Colonial League walk-off victory and snap Northern Lehigh’s seven-game winning streak.
After the Bulldogs took the lead in the top of the seventh, the Slaters strung together fifth straight hits to pull off the comeback. Chayse Panczer delivered the game-winner with an RBI single.
Panczer finished 3-for-3 with three RBIs.
For Nolehi, Brad Dougherty had an RBI double, and Jayden Christman added a run-scoring single.

Jim Thorpe’s Madison Schwartz pitched a five-inning no-hitter and received plenty of offensive support, as the Olympians rolled to a 13-0 Colonial League win over Catasauqua.
Schwartz walked three and struck out nine. She also helped her own cause with two hits and two runs scored.
Thorpe banged out 19 hits, including a two-run homer from Julianna Frantz.
Gloria Strohl, Ryah Confer and Isabella Sully all had three hits for the Olympians, while Frantz, Kelsie Huff, Jessica Kozak and Kylie Sullivan each had two.
Frantz and Strohl both had three RBIs, and Frantz also scored three runs.

Palmerton-Pen Argyl
Hailey George twirled a two-hitter and struck out 13 in leading undefeated Palmerton to its 11th straight victory, a 7-0 shutout over Colonial League opponent Pen Argyl.
Jaylin Strohl had a sacrifice fly in the first, and added an RBI single in the second that gave the Blue Bombers a 2-0 advantage.
Hailey Barry went 3-for-4 with a triple. George, Tessa Sander, Kyla Trumbore and Grace Schneider each registered two hits. George, Sander and Peyton Graver also knocked in a run.

Ella Bressi knocked in three runs to help Northwestern win its third straight, routing Salisbury 10-1 in Colonial League play.
Abby Dunstan gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead in the opening inning with a two-run homer.
Bressi, Ainsley Behler, Sam Boyer, Lily Kinnon and Natalie Conner all had two hits for Northwestern.
Emma Freeman surrendered four hits and no runs over three innings, striking out three. Behler finished the game and picked up the win, allowing six hits and one run over four frames with three strikeouts and no walks.

Kelli Snow belted a walk-off grand slam to lift Bangor to a 7-6 eight-inning Colonial League victory over Northern Lehigh.
Snow hit a solo homer in the sixth that tied the game at 3-3.
The Bulldogs took the lead in the top of the eighth with a three-run outburst on a Bella Burton walk, and RBI singles from both Kylee Snyder and Kenzie Chrusical.
Tegan Simms, who had two hits, put the Bulldogs on the board in the first inning with an RBI single. Snyder, who swiped two bases, along with Chrusical and Addison Smith each drove in a run.

Isabella D’Ancona drove in four runs to help lead Panther Valley to a 16-0 three-inning non-league victory over winless Executive Education.
Jovie Breiner knocked in three runs with a pair of triples. Meagan O’Brien, Ava Alabovitz and Danika Blazosky each had two hits for the Panthers. Blazosky knocked in two runs, and Alabovitz, O’Brien, Janessa Prudente and Brooklyn Mika each drove in one.
Prudente allowed only one hit and struck out five over two innings, and Kathryn Breslin pitched a hitless final frame.

Hamburg built an early lead and then held off Tamaqua, 10-6, for its ninth straight win.
The visiting Hawks scored four runs in the top of the second inning to grab a 5-0 advantage. Tamaqua clawed back into the game with a two-run third and a four-run fourth.
Peyton Faust, Paige Bumbulsky, Ceanna Gormley and Molly Evans each drove in a run, and Noami Knitter went 2-for-3 for Tamaqua.
Brianna Mengel hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning for Hamburg, while winning pitcher Ava Epting finished with 16 strikeouts.

Bekim Cokrlija posted a win at No. 1 singles for Lehighton, but Notre Dame Green Pond earned a 4-1 Colonial League victory.
The Crusaders gained straight-set victories in their four wins.
The Indians host Moravian Academy this afternoon in their season finale.
