Turnpike crashes

State police at the Pocono barracks reported the following crashes that occurred on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike:

• Fabian E. Ramiro, 20, of Berwick, was injured after a one-vehicle crash at 3:05 a.m. March 22 at mile marker 75.3 in Parryville Borough.

Police said he was transported by personnel from the Lehighton Ambulance Association to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township.

Police said he was driving a 2006 Volvo northbound when he lost control of it while negotiating a right curve in he highway. The vehicle slid right and hit an embankment before overturning and coming to rest in the left northbound lane. The Volvo was towed from the scene.

Ramiro was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed and leaving the roadway, police said.

• No one was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 10 p.m. March 20 at mile marker 82 in Penn Forest Township.

Police said it occurred as Edgar R. Jerez Rodriguez, 37, of Allentown, was driving a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee southbound when he lost control of it. The Jeep hit a guide rail on the right shoulder and continued south until coming to final rest against the railing.

The vehicle had disabling damage to its front end.
