Tributes pour in for Palmerton barber who died

An outpouring of support has been shown for the beloved owner of a barber shop in Palmerton who passed away earlier this week.

Flowers, pictures, cards and other tokens of affection have been dropped off at the doorstep of Mauro’s Barber Shop at 212 Delaware Ave.

The tributes are for Mauro Buffa, 36, owner of Mauro’s Barber Shop, who died Tuesday.

Palmerton Mayor Bo Rodrigues said he knew Buffa and recounted a story from the time Buffa cut his hair.

“Seeing him in his profession was pretty interesting,” Rodrigues said. “It was fun seeing him outside of informal engagements.

“He was very professional. It was kind of like the barber shops you see on TV and in the movies; it kind of gave me that similar feeling.”

Rodrigues spoke to the affection and wave of support the Palmerton community has shown since Buffa’s passing.

“The support that he’s getting from the community goes to show how great Palmerton is when tragedy hits,” he said. “Mauro was the type of guy that was put here for a purpose; God put him here for a purpose.

“I think it was to really show how kind people really should be. He was such a good soul.”

Rodrigues said people have also shared kind words about Buffa on social media.

“Lots of tributes, people just sharing stories,” he said. It’s amazing how much he touched people and made an impact on people.”

“We all kind of have our own story with him. It’s nice hearing how much he made an impact on other people as well.”
