John Cooper, 49, of Tamaqua, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed following a one-vehicle crash at 8:16 p.m. Feb. 22 on Route 895 in Wayne Township, state police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks said.

He was uninjured in the incident.

Police said Cooper was driving a 2006 Mack Truck eastbound when the truck went out of control, entered the south shoulder and hit a utility pole.

When the truck came to rest, half the pole was on its roof, police said.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.
