St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church — North Weissport, 222 Church St., Lehighton, holds worship at 9 a.m. Sundays. Worship is also offered on Facebook (St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church). Pastor Michael A. Frost presides. All are welcome.

Sunday Church School begins at 10:15 a.m. It is for children ages 3 through 8th grade.

The Mahoning Township Lions announce its Chapel Grove Pavilion, located off Route 443 on Fritz Valley Road is available for rent. The pavilion is available for family reunions, graduations, weddings, meetings and more.

Indoor seating is 100-plus.

Trinity Happenings

Sunday worship at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, begins at 9:30 a.m. Portions will be led by the Youth Group. Licensed Lay Minister Kathy Long presides. Coffeehouse fellowship follows in Luther Hall.

Church initiatives:

The Food Pantry is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays (and third Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting. Residents who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive supplemental food. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pick up. Pantry volunteers will assist pedestrians/those not in vehicles.

Trinity Thrift Store hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays; and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays and Saturdays. Cash-only sales. Clothing donations will be accepted during store hours. There is a five bag limit. Household goods are not being accepted at this time. Use door 2 to bring clothing inside.

Looking ahead:

• All You Can Eat Spaghetti Dinner and Basket Raffle: May 2, 4-7 p.m. This is a youth fundraiser. Advance ticket sales only; no walk-ins. Tickets available before/after Sunday worship and by contacting the church office during weekday hours.

• Mother’s Day Luncheon: May 9, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. No cost to attend. Seating is limited. RSVP required before April 30 by contacting the church office Mondays through Fridays between 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

BECC

Weekly events:

• Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., Senior Choir practice.

• Thursday at 6:30 p.m., Handbell Choir Practice; and 6-9 p.m. Men’s Bible study, open to men age 18 and up.

Upcoming events:

• Ham and dandelion dinner: April 18 from 3-6 p.m. Dessert and beverage included.

• Rummage sale: May 8 from 8 a.m. to noon and 5:30-7:30 p.m. and May 9 from 8 a.m. to noon.

• Homemade shoo-fly pie sale: Orders due May 17 with pickup from 1-2:30 p.m. May 23.

Christ Evangelical

Christ Evangelical Free Church, 2420 Blakeslee Blvd., Dr., West in Lehighton holds worship service beginning at 10 a.m. Sunday. Sunday School for children and youth is also held every Sunday except the first Sunday of the month at 10:30 a.m.

A Food Pantry takes place the third Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to noon.
