Ex-girlfriend, current girlfriend charged in fight

A Banks Township woman and a Bucks County woman have been charged with assault after a fight.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Trooper James Scott of the Pennsylvania State Police, Hazleton barracks, Ariah Bucher, 20, of Perkasie, is accused of attacking Telia Lutz, 18, of Tresckow, during a fight Feb. 20 in Banks Township.

Scott was dispatched at 11:14 p.m. to a home on East Market Street and met Lutz inside her residence.

Lutz told police she had recently moved to the area with her grandparents to get away from her ex-boyfriend. She said she received a text message from her ex-boyfriend’s current girlfriend telling her to come outside because they were there to fight.

Lutz said she went outside and saw her ex-boyfriend, his current girlfriend and two unknown females standing on her street. She told police her ex-boyfriend struck her in the face and knocked her to the ground, and that all of them began punching and kicking her while she was down.

Lutz had a swollen upper and bottom lip, along with a hematoma and laceration to the back of her head. She later showed police hospital paperwork indicating she suffered a stable cervical spine fracture as a result of the assault.

On March 4, a preliminary hearing was held at District Judge Joseph D. Homanko’s office in connection with the case against the Lutz’s ex-boyfriend. During the hearing, the ex-boyfriend showed a video of the incident.

Scott said the video showed Lutz striking her ex-boyfriend in the face several times. The ex-boyfriend attempted to get away and dodge her punches, but after she finished, the victim ran over to Bucher, who was standing off to the side, and began swinging and punching her.

Police said Bucher pulled Lutz to the ground, punched her in the face several times and then kicked her in the head. Scott said the kick caused the laceration to the back of the victim’s head and the fracture to her spine.

The ex-boyfriend broke up the fight and helped Lutz off the ground, according to police. Assault charges against him were withdrawn.

Charges were then filed against Lutz. She is facing two counts of simple assault, one count of harassment and one count for falsely incriminating her ex-boyfriend. She is awaiting a preliminary hearing.

Bucher has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment. She is free in lieu of $25,000 unsecured bail.

Both are scheduled for preliminary hearings May 13 before District Judge Joseph D. Homanko Sr. of Weatherly.
