Schuylkill hires election workers
Schuylkill County is gearing up for the primary election on May 19.
At a public meeting Wednesday, county commissioners approved hiring 12 people as election rovers to start immediately to prepare the office and logistics/accuracy. They’ll be paid $12 per hour in addition to .725 cents per mile traveled on Election Day to assigned polling sites and or where needed.
They are: Michael Onuskanich, James Zerbe, Carol Cooney-Syzdek, Paula Warmkessel, Jim Gustus, John Guers, Tim Wood, Gary Keifer, Cindy Drazenovich, Daniel Wachter, Julie Zangari. and William Swartz.
Cooney-Syzdek and Warmkessel were also hired as subcontractors as needed.
In addition, four people were hired at $100 each as resolution board members. They’ll work at the Schuylkill Transportation System building on Election Day.
They are Gerry Bowman, Edward Barket, Renee Buchanan and Bob Bylone.
Eleven people were hired as drivers to deliver supplies and equipment.
They are John Hayes, Denise Wallace and Delmar Phillips, to be paid $360; James Zerbe, $350; Gary Keifer, $340; Jay Tobias, Steve Querengasser and a pending hire, $320; William Klinger, $310, and a pending hire, $300.
Also, Delmar Phillips, Andrew Gricoski, Jeff Kovach, Dennis Prosick, John Hayes and Gary Goodman were hired as subcontractors for machine delivery at $14 per hour, as needed.
Lastly, James Klock, Joanne Dower, Don Dudash, Sharon Chiao, Ann M. Karpovich, Debra Zack and Ann Abalo were hired as subcontractors for the computing board at $75 per day beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, May 22.
