Calvary Lewistown
Erica Murphy of the New England Valley of Tamaqua will bring a message of hope and salvation for mankind at the 11 a.m. Sunday service at Calvary Evangelical Church in Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m. There will be no Sunday evening service.
An Easter sunrise service for all ages will be held rain or shine at 6:30 a.m. April 5 at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle. All are invited.
Basket raffle
The South Ward Fire Company in Tamaqua will hold a basket raffle from noon to 5 p.m. April 25. The drawing will be held at 5:30 p.m.
Tamaqua Seniors
The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on March 19 with 24 members present.
President Jean Machamer opened the meeting with the invocation, an Irish Blessing, and the singing of “I’m Looking Over a Four Leaf Clover” sung by a member.
One member was added to the sick list and other members were welcomed back after being sick.
Machamer distributed packages of peanut butter crackers to members.
An anniversary and picnic is being planned for July.
A member donated food. The meeting closed and bingo was played.
The group meets at 1 p.m. Thursdays from the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited.
Zion Lewistown
Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.
Zion Men will meet at 8 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Hall.
St. Peter’s — West Penn
The Palm/Passion worship service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn is at 9 a.m. Sunday. There will be a confirmation bazaar. Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m.
Filling orders may be picked up between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. April 2 from the south entrance. The Maundy Thursday service will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Ben Salem Church.
The Good Friday service will be held at 7 p.m. April 3 at St. John’s in Mahoning.
St. Peter’s annual Easter egg hunt will be held at 1 p.m. April 4.
