Concourse Club of Palmerton celebrates Guiding Stars
The Concourse Club of Palmerton celebrated the achievements of the Guiding Stars at the March 5 meeting of the Concourse Club at the Aquashicola Fire Company.
Proud families and friends were in attendance to recognize these Palmerton Area High School senior students.
Each senior is in the top 25% of academic ranking, has demonstrated leadership qualities in extracurricular school activities and participates in community programs and events. These high achievers were awarded a certificate, a check, and an engraved star charm.
Recipients were:
Hadlee Lake
Hadlee is the daughter of Heather and Chris Lake and has a younger sister, Harper.
Her hobbies are playing soccer, dancing, playing tennis, working out and spending time with friends and her family.
School activities include being the secretary for the Class of 2026, captain of the soccer team, president of the Leo Club, and captain of the tennis team. She is also a member of the Book Club, FBLA, National Honor Society, Environmental Club, Fishing Club and Student Forum.
She volunteers at the Bo Tkach 5K, Raising the House Run, the Palmerton Community Festival, CACPAC food pantry, Lunch Buddies, and the St. Luke’s Auxiliary Nearly New Shop.
She plans to attend Lehigh County Community College, and then St. Luke’s School of Nursing.
Mikayla Maxwell
Mikayla, the daughter of Tiffany Schleicher and Chris Maxwell, has a brother, Caden.
Her hobbies are going to the gym, playing with her dogs, baking, reading, and hanging out with her friends.
School activities include the vice-president of the National Honor Society, captain of the volleyball team, president of Students Against Destructive Decisions and coordinator of Student Council Social Media.
She is a member of the Environmental Club, Aevidum and the Leo Club.
Her community activities are volunteering at the Bo Tkach Turkey Trot, Raising the House Run, the Palmerton Community Festival, and elementary school events, such as Earth Day and the Color Run. She also works at Dedicated Fitness.
Mikayla plans to attend West Chester University to earn a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
Camryn Bonser
Camryn, the daughter of Missy and Jason Bonser, has a sister, Taylor, and a brother, Riley.
Her hobbies are drawing and playing guitar and her school activities include being the president of the Art Club and vice-president of the Yearbook. She also is a member of the Book Club, Palmerton Against Animal Cruelty, Aevidum, and Students Against Destructive Decisions.
Community activities include being a member of her youth group.
She plans to attend Lehigh County Community College, participating in the honors program.
Sadie Gair
Sadie, the daughter of Elyse and Ryan Haas, has a brother, Jason.
Her hobbies are walking and working out, shopping, baking, reading, and hanging out with friends.
School activities include being the secretary of Student Council, captain of the volleyball team, and a member of the Environmental Club, the Leo Club and Social Media Club.
She participates in community activities by volunteering through various school clubs (National Honor Society, Leo, and Student Council), participating in High School Ministry, and working at Slopeside Pub & Grill.
Sadie plans to attend King’s College in the 5-year physician assistant program.
Leah Rumfield
The daughter of Jessica Rumfield, Leah has a brother, Dalton.
Her hobbies include exercising, traveling, baking, shopping, drawing, tanning, listening to music, and spending time with her family. Leah’s school activities are being the president of Student Council, secretary of SADD, captain of the girl’s soccer team, as well as being a member of Aevidum, the Leo Club, the Environmental Club, and the girl’s basketball team.
Her community service activities include volunteering at the Bo Tkach Foundation, Raising the House Run, the Palmerton Community Festival, and elementary school events.
She plans to major in a 5.5 year accelerated physical therapy program to earn a doctorate in physical therapy.
