Carbon County prothonotary report

Carbon County Prothonotary Kayla M. Semmel released statistics for the last three months in her office.

December

A total of 306 cases were started by the prothonotary’s office. A breakdown of cases filed include: Civil action, 33; judgments, 180; custody, 12; DJ appeals, 4; divorces, 7; ejectment, 1; landlord/tenant appeal, 5; license appeal, 1; mortgage foreclosure, 11; protection from abuse, 20; PFSVI, 1; stip/waiv liens, 8; mental health, 7; name change, 2; custody modifications, 6; and writ of executions, 8.

Income generated for the month was $30,398.09, broken down to include prothonotary fees, $22,906.14; custody/divorce fees, $1,947.50; data processing fees, $4,312.14; interest income, $566.31; PFA surcharges for sheriff and courts, $50; and stenographer fees, $616.

In addition, $5,825 was remitted to the county for remote access fund for remote access fees; $3,527.82 was remitted to the state Department of Revenue; $1,132.28 to the automation fund; $26.35 in sales tax.

There were 31 passport photos taken in December; as well as 25 applications processed.

January

A total of 288 cases were started by the prothonotary’s office. A breakdown of cases filed include: Civil action, 52; court appointments, 8; judgments, 143; custody, 9; DJ appeals, 4; divorces, 14; ejectment, 1; EM Dom DEC/TAK, 1; landlord/tenant appeal, 1; license appeal, 2; mortgage foreclosure, 10; protection from abuse, 13; mental health, 7; miscellaneous, 2; name change, 4; paternity, 1; zoning appeal, 2; custody modifications, 5; and writ of executions, 9.

Income generated for the month was $33,484.72, broken down to include prothonotary fees, $25,764.92; custody/divorce fees, $1,912.40; data processing fees, $4,445.64; interest income, $3.18; PFA surcharges for sheriff and courts, $65.58; and stenographer fees, $1,293.

In addition, $1,025 was remitted to the county for remote access fund for remote access fees; $4,706.35 was remitted to the state Department of Revenue; $1,157.24 to the automation fund; $59.50 in sales tax.

There were 70 passport photos taken in January; as well as 59 applications and 15 renewals processed.

February

A total of 348 cases were started by the prothonotary’s office. A breakdown of cases filed include: Civil action, 51; confession of judgment, 2; judgments, 177; custody, 6; DJ appeals, 5; divorces, 16; ejectment, 2; EM Dom DEC/TAK, 1; landlord/tenant appeal, 2; license appeal, 3; mortgage foreclosure, 11; replevin, 1; protection from abuse, 17; mental health, 7; miscellaneous, 4; name change, 2; paternity, 1; quiet title, 2; partition, 1; custody modifications, 12; and writ of executions, 25.

Income generated for the month was $34,580.17, broken down to include prothonotary fees, $28,605.73; custody/divorce fees, $875; data processing fees, $4,397.54; interest income, $613.90; PFA surcharges for sheriff and courts, $50; and stenographer fees, $38.

In addition, $1,636 was remitted to the county for remote access fund for remote access fees; $5,064.72 was remitted to the state Department of Revenue; $1,144.67 to the automation fund; $53.55 in sales tax.

There were 63 passport photos taken in February; as well as 50 applications and 12 renewals processed.
