March 21, 1972 — Tamaqua captures eight of nine events to open its swim season with a 58-19 victory over Nanticoke. Brenda Bowe posts wins in two individual events. She touches the wall first in the 50 freestyle in a time of 30.3 and takes the 50 breaststroke in 40.0 seconds. Nancy Daderko adds a first in the 50 backstroke in a school record time of 35.8 and teams with Karen Young, Debra Donald and Mary Lou Lacek to claim the 200 medley relay. Other wins by Blue Raider swimmers include Lou Ann DeWire (100 IM), Bonnie Becker (diving), Rita Haldeman (50 butterfly) and Judy Nortavage (100 free).
