A man from Dickson City, Lackawanna County, who is not a U.S. citizen and has been living here illegally on an expired immigrant visa, was arrested by Weatherly police this week after having sexual contact with a 14-year-old.
Police said Tejpal Kishore, 22, is being held at the Carbon County Correctional Facility, Nesquehoning, following arraignment before an on-call magisterial district judge who denied him bail.
He is charged with four counts each of statutory deviate sexual intercourse with a person less than 16 years of age, statutory sexual assault on a person 8-11 years of age or older and corruption of a minor, and three counts of corruption of a minor (by providing the minor controlled substances.
In addition, police said the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has place an immigration detainer on Kishore for deportation purposes.
Police said in the early morning hours of March 15, a duty officer discovered a suspicious vehicle parked behind a local business from the view of the public.
While checking on the vehicle, the officer found it to be occupied by Kishore and a girl located in the rear passenger area of the vehicle.
Police said the girl, 14, was released to a parent.
On March 18, police said Kishore was interviewed, at which time he ultimately admitted to having had sexual contact with the girl on several occasions, knowing that she was 14, and also providing cocaine to her.
